QCR High Rotor Micro Model Rocket Kit 2020

Your mother always told you you were different, and she was right! Tired of the large end of the model rocket size spectrum? Micro Maxx lets you jump feet first into the other end!

Made around a 6mm diameter body tube, QCR's High Rotor Micro helicopter is much smaller version of the High Rotor I Heli. As with other members of the High Rotor series, the Micro Maxx heli is a totally different concept from the classic model rocket idea pioneered by Estes. In this micro rocket, there is no launch lug, no streamer or parachute and recovery wadding is totally unnecessary!

The powered and coasting phase of the flight is typical. No surprises here. However, something unusual happens at “ejection”. Nothing is ejected! Even the nose cone stays put! What happens is that the hot ejection gases trigger the release of the rotors (the gyrating blades of a helicopter), which deflect the air passing by the rocket, thereby creating drag and slowing down the model’s descent. In this design (Rotaroc), the rotors are attached directly to the airframe, so on the way down the body tube turns together with the rotors.

The model comes with complete with glassine-covered, spiral-wound paper body tube, contest-grade balsa fins and rotors, and hand-turned wood nosecone.
